Now, 1K phone support is provided by general pool of agents, though higher prioritized for speed, and I assume some level of competence. To be fair, lately has seemed much less hit-and-miss than before. There was a period when it would even go to off-shore agents. Haven't had that happen personally in quite a while.
Apparently the new, official name is "Premier 1K 1Call".
I fondly remember the UA Government Desk. Back before the merger and for a short time thereafter, they could do just about anything.
