Service started with both nuts and crisps, which I don't recall being offered previously, accompanied by a glass of the rosé champagne.



My starter of smoked Scottish salmon with keta caviar was nicely presented and a good portion size.





For my main course, the Qatari chicken machboos with daqoos sauce was flavoursome but not particularly hot.





My wife had the seared cod fillet and prawn, which she said was very good, and certainly looked a bit more interesting than my chicken.





Somewhat stingily, there was only one option for dessert; warm strawberry topfen dumplings. This was quite creative, but ultimately not in the league of the best desserts I've sampled on QR.

To start, yogurt with chia, sour cherry compote and toasted pumpkin seed granola. I declined the selection of bakery, which explains its absence from the table setup.





I don't normally go for sweet main courses for breakfast, but thought the raspberry and pistachio beignets sounded interesting. Unfortunately, they weren't - dry, and quite tasteless.





For the second meal, I decided to go all out (mainly to distract myself from the ex-CX 77W that looked decidedly worse for wear in the cabin), starting with the Baeri caviar with Balik style salmon.





The seared Angus beef tenderloin with Béarnaise was excellent, accompanied by a glass of the Syrah.





The gooseberry friand with vanilla ice cream was beautifully presented and a fitting end to another mostly excellent DOH-catered inflight meal experience.
