Crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, minced garlic, parsley, a little chili flake, and wine is the base for the sauce. Add to that about 2 pounds of home made meatballs (made of beef, pork and veal (as mentioned in Good Fellas) (my family also adds parmasean and pine nuts)) and 1.5 pounds of sweet italian sausage.
Simmer for about 4 - 5 hours - stirring every 20 minutes to ensure the bottom of the put sauce doesn't scorch.
Serve with spaghetti, ziti, or rigatoni.
That's what I do - but if I were to give one tip to anyone who wants to come home to a warm dinner. Invest in a Slow Cooker. I swear by mine.
So before I get my fingers rapped for going so far off topic - I think that meatballs are an excellent idea to put out for hungry people going into the Lounge. I have never knowingly had Chicken meatballs - but as I always say - try them first and if you do not like them - do not eat them. What do they serve it with - pasta or rice or nothing?
