My wife and I have adopted two boys from the same birth mother and we saw the looks of despair from others in ET without 6 year old and then 20 month old. They were fine even if a little excitable. Bear in mind that it's not an exact science how an adopted child gets used to even his adoptive parents - though he will usually have been in placement with you for some time before the official order. It's all new to them. Leave lots of lots of time so you can be extra patient mainly with the odd person tutting. As others say, if there is a meltdown, they are usually short lived and fussing can make it worse not better.Good luck and enjoy the terrible two's the terrible threes and fearsome fours are still to come!
