Why would Amex flag that? Isn't that the whole point of letting you designate someone as the primary contact? $300 credit is based on what's charged to the card. It has nothing to do with the name on the reservation.
Hotel offers the $100 credit, not Amex.
Makes sense, thanks for explaining it again. My only hesitation was that the check out page explicitly says the primary contact has to be the cardholder. I'll cancel and rebook!
