At LAX TB and T7, there is no secondary customs desk you need to pass by which dramatically reduces the risk of secondary bag inspections vs airports like SFO and JFK where you need to pass by a desk staffed with customs inspectors. It sounds like DFW has that desk.
That desk is there, but it’s unpredictable as far as if it’s even manned, how much they’re checking, if dogs present, etc.
