Yes, I think they had not lined up their ducks before going public with this one. I can also only today search and price MEL from other places than HEL, so they have now published altered fare rules making it possible to book. Ex CPH is 5100€ on a very small sample size. (Still better than the 10 000€ fares routed on Jetstar in economy ) But at least yet they are not competing on price.



Overall sadened the launch of this was so poorly executed.

Happy for this destination, MEL has been part of my yearly routine for quite some time, but I am unsure what the future holds. At the 5k€ level it is a no go with Finnair for me, it still is a 2-stop journey and with the same budget (time and money) one might be able to find something else ex-EU and add a cheap position flight.
I assume U-availability will continue to be extremely difficult, but that would otherwise have been a motivator for avios collection.
