Sadly, this issue is still around. Nice that some CSRs are willing to waive the fee for a 24 hour hold, but I'd rather just pay the fee to avoid the ~30-45 min chat or call as they initially try to troubleshoot the issue first before offering the free hold, which isn't guaranteed either.
Well it looks like this bug has evolved slightly.
It now shows you the option to farelock when you don't have enough miles, and then when you transfer enough miles in to cover it, the option to farelock disappears.
So essentially, there's no more farelocking of award tickets...
