Welcome to Flyertalk.

If you are in F on the 3 class transcon to JFK, AA will lend you a DVD player and about 20 assorted discs for the duration of the flight. If you are in Business Class, the main screen will show a movie.

On your other flights (except the last), you are likely to get a main screen movie; if not, then you will get lots of Everybody Loves Raymond and King of Queens.

Flt 2461 is currently operated with an MD-80, which on AA means no IFE at all.

I take my own DVD player or laptop (with DVD) with me on every flight. Even on the transcons. Sometimes the main screen movie is interesting, but after a couple of flights, I have generally seen the main screen movie.

Would I bring the DVD player if I were you? Yep.

Again, welcome.

Just a tip (not meant to be critical) - for AA-specific questions, you will probably get more traffic in the AAdvantage forum.
