Rimowa aluminum bags will get scratched, dinged, and dented if you check them. If you check them enough times, the frame will eventually get bent. They look great when they're new, but anyone who buys one of these ought to be aware of the damage that will inevitably occur if you check them often enough.

They Rimowa classic cabin bags are also really heavy. So if you fly a carrier that enforces carry-on weight-limits, there's a very good chance you will be forced to check it. This is something to take into account when deciding which bag to use for a particular flight.

I have an aluminum frame Rimowa hybrid cabin roller. It's one of the best looking pieces of luggage ever made (IMO). I never check it in. We buy the plastic Rimowa for our checked luggage. They're not as cool as aluminum but they handle wear much better.
