Reached out to the concierge email about getting dinner reservations booked for honeymoon trip. Response I got was I would be better off doing it myself via Omakase and TableCheck.
More and more restaurants are taking bookings online directly, and I've heard that some are no longer willing to let hotels book on their guests' behalf.
If a restaurant is refusing to take bookings through the hotel full stop (and I'm not sure whether that applies to the restaurant you had in mind), then I'm not sure there's a lot they can do. However, if you had asked about restaurants which do not fall into this category, then obviously there is something to be concerned about with their response.
