On another note. Arriving late last night into T2, walking to the 2 lifts up to the walkway to the station, the UK Arrivals sign was on and glowing although the red barriers were still there. So it can be long now, and looks like the walk will be shorter being the opposite side to the current process.
My last arrival at LHR T5 from MAN I had to wait 30 minutes to get to the stand. The stand was a bus stand. So bus to terminal. Then I had to transfer to T3. Eventually arriving in the CX lounge 60+ minutes after landing. Then on departure I got to my mid level T3 gate to be boarded into a holding pen which then decanted people out to a bus to take me to the plane. So a pretty rubbish experience overall. At least the MAN-LHR flights seem to still usually be boarding from a real gate.
I think I have had a bus gate landing at LHR from MAN 4\4 of my last journeys. Maybe I have just been unlucky or I travel at times of day that mean bus gates are more likely as I am never flying to get to London, always to go somewhere else.
