Hotel: Conrad LA
Room Booked: Premium King
Rate: $446.42 one night (Saturday) Valet-only parking was $62
Early Check-in: Arrived after normal check in
Late Checkout: Left early but they extended it to 1pm and probably would have extended later if we needed.
Upgrade: No, was told no upgrades available (there were suites available but there was no one class up upgrade available from what I booked so they denied an upgrade but the Hilton app was more than willing to sell me an upgrade on the day of checkin if I paid for it). Only given room that was booked. Didn't even get upgraded to better view.
$100 Food & Beverage Credit: Yes, used it for drinks and snack at Beaudry room drinks were quite pricey (they were well made) but we already had dinner so it was fine to burn off the $100 credit (fortunately they applied the credit to the tip as well). The Spanish flan was pretty good. Am Hilton gold didn't get full $30 credit. Still had to pay destination fee although they deducted a little amount.
Breakfast: it was $60 credit at the San Laurel. Food is a bit expensive for what you get, but it tasted good. $10 cappuccinos but you can get coffee for free from lobby area if you want basic coffee. Ending up spending $95 for two people so credit does not go far. I guess if you go get the free coffee you will cover most of the food but it is quite expensive.
Prepaid/Paid at Hotel: Prepaid $446.42 in advance, balance (tax, destination) was paid at hotel. $62 for parking. $38 destination fee (minus $5.10 for the F&B credit)
Loyalty Points/Benefits Received?: Yes, HHonors Gold bonus points applied.
Comment: FHR explained. Told no upgrade. After checkout got invoice and they did not apply the $60 breakfast credit so I had to call in to have that fixed. Even with that fix I still believe I was overcharged because I had an additional credit for being gold which they did not apply beyond the $5 off the destination credit. Couldn't get valet on the phone when I wanted the car, although they were pretty quick once I was downstairs with getting it. Nice looking hotel but poor value given how much they overcharge you for everything. Only booked it because I had to burn my $300 credit. Would never book this hotel straight out. TV was in a weird position in corner of the room flat against the wall. You would think it would be on a hinge so that you could rotate the screen towards the bed. Controls are a bit confusing. My partner kept pushing the Bright button thinking it would light up the room and it would end up raising the shades. It was probably a catch all button or something but I could see why it would confuse her. Felt it like it was a stepdown from international Conrads.
