To me though the most important difference between Marriott and Hilton is the considerably larger number of Marriott properties I want to actually stay in. The number of true luxury properties under the Hilton brand is very small and many of them are quite stingy with elite benefits.
But you're getting a
meaningful upgrade at an Embassy Suites...'sir, would you like some whipped cream on your dog crap'...in fairness I also wouldn't stay at a Courtyard unless it was the only hotel within 50 miles, so there's that...
