Does anyone have experience with applying a SUA retroactively?
I have an upcoming booking that was booked as a Standard Suite award (66k/nt), as I was not able to apply the SUA at the time of booking.
I’d like to “downgrade” to a Standard (non-suite) award (45k/nt) and then immediately apply a SUA to essentially land right back where I started, but importantly exchanging the SUA for a savings of 22k per night.
I’m not asking the hotel to give me anything I don’t already have, but rather just looking to swap the upgrade “instrument” from additional points to a SUA.
Does anyone know whether the hotel is compensated differently from Hyatt depending on whether I pay 66k/nt for a Standard Suite Award vs 45k/nt + SUA for that same Standard Suite Award?
I will try to tackle this with my MHC and/or the property directly but I’d like to know the economics to gauge how willing the property might be to do this.
