Let's do a basic assumption (maybe overassumption) of
the points.com listed transfer partners. Based on the website coding showing the transfer partner button is from them.
AA isn't there.
DL, UA, and WN all are.
Now, this doesn't mean that these airlines will be available. It's possible they aren't. And even if every listed partner
is available, I expect the terms to be far worse than what these airlines provide to the banks loyal to them with credit card/rewards deals.
For perspective - AC Aeroplan will offer to sell you points (with a bonus for the holidays, praise be!) through points.com for 1.87cpp (buying a million points at an 100% bonus) to worse than 2.7cpp for smaller purchases.
If there was
anything to celebrate on the transfer partners other than "you can transfer points to partners" than USB would have heralded it, especially because it would have ensured that people waited for transfer partner rates instead of liquidating at 1.5cpp on RTR, which is a direct cash cost USB has to bare, vs. favorable transfer partner redemptions being <1cpp to the bank, but much more valuable on the redemption if someone is flexible on travel options.
They have instead teased transfer partners with no information as to the partners or the transfer rate until
after the option of a guaranteed redemption at 1.5cpp is no longer available.
To me, that speaks volumes - the silence is deafening.
If you feel lucky, gamble that USB has sat on a super great transfer rate and that those of us who redeemed RTR are suckers. If someone asked me personally for advice though, I would say cash out.
