Have a question and I'm not sure if we're entitled to EU261.

We were originally booked for AMS - HEL - HKG (overnight) - KUL arriving into KUL about 28 hours after departure. 11:30- 15:00, 00:50+1 - 18:00+1, 08:00+2 - 13:00 +2 was the rough original flight timings.

AY cancelled the AMS- HEL leg (late arrival of aircraft from HKG previous leg) and rather than rebooking us on the next AMS-HEL they chose to put us on AMS-DOH-KUL putting us at KUL about 24h before our original arrival time. I'm wondering if 1) there's EU261 compensation for early arrival and 2) if I should be putting in claims for hotels (cancelling HKG and rebooking KUL).

Side note i did try to get them to rebook us AMS-DOH-HKG which would get us into HKG somewhat close to our previous arrival timing and not have to change any hotels and I could see on EF J2 /J3 on both services but the AY customer service couldn't move us to that for whatever reason.

Edit: also KUL was not our final destination, however for the purpose of this ticket it was.
