Did I screw up , or....is the devaluation of the programme just another "up yours" and a gallic shrug from our friends at Accor?
- Had a 6 night stay booked at Banyan Tree Maldives , booked via Accor website
- Received a promo email for Explorer+ in June and thought to myself - at the prices the island charges for meals and drinks, this restaurant discount should be very handy (and note, dear reader, even when you are on half board, it turns out that many menu items are not included and require a "supplement" ... even comparable dishes, not talking about the lobster thermidor or wagyu)
- So I coughed up the fee, only to find 3 motnhs later the restaurant discount was devalued
- We check out of the hotel in November, ask about the credit ... " oh sorry, we left that programme in October"

I dont travel as much as I used to, when I was totally on top of all this stuff (and was eg Accor Platinum) ... am I right to feel Ive been taken for a mug by Accor? These benefits were not only downgraded but removed months after I paid to join, and spending more money with Accor to make use of free stay nights isnt the solution ( I have no trips planned before membership expiry anyway).
