The welcome amenity was nice and appropriate.
The main problem however was the F&B offer at the hotel. Arriving on a Sunday meant that the restaurant was closed (odd for a 5* hotel) so the only place to get food was the bar. The limited menu was hardly inspiring. Service was chaotic. G&Ts served without lime or cucumber (Hendricks) and food coming out all at once (instead of the traditional starter, main course order). Food also arrived cold. When trying to redeem the ALL Diamond drinks vouchers for 2 drinks of the limited welcome drink menu, the staff suggested this was not possible: only beer and wine. It was clear that neither bar nor waiting staff had any idea what they are doing. It is also a shame that the bar lost some of its charm by being rammed with seats and tables and the fireplace not working any longer.
Lastly, maybe the door staff could be trained to greet guests when they enter the hotel.
All in all these may appear to be minor quibbles but at a 5* luxury hotel that commands significant rates more should be expected.
Thanks for the review. Doesn't look very inspiring...
