ANA Crowne Plaza Akita

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes. One of the best in recent years.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room, upgraded to 2 Twin Suite (ロイヤルスイート) with CSU.

How are the rooms?
The hotel reflagged to Crowne Plaza in 2021, and all rooms have been renovated between 2022 and 2025. The rooms on the top floor (12th) were renovated in February 2025. Our room still smelled quite new, and given the size (82m^2), it felt like as if we just bought a new apartment.
The room had three main areas, a living room with a dining table, set of sofa, and a half-bath, a bedroom with two double beds and a walking closet, and a bathroom. It had most of the modern amenities and felt almost like an IC.
The only issue we experienced was that the renovation probably did not include the windows, and one window was a bit "loose" and we could feel the snowstorm blowing outside. Also unfortunate was that the smoking room is at the 12F, so we were always greeted by varying degree of cigarette smell when you walked out of the guestroom area and into the elevator lobby.

How is the exec. lounge?
Excellent for a Crowne Plaza. The lounge is from 1-9pm, with afternoon tea from 3-5 and cocktail from 5:30-7:30 with excellent local sake and enough food that might kill your appetite for dinner. The breakfast is at the buffet restaurant. The lounge never got past half capacity during our stay.

What was good and what was bad?
The good:
- Delightful staff that all were genuinely helpful and most of them speak decent English.
- Central location - a few minutes walk to Akita station, and surrounded by restaurants and two supermarkets.
- Modern, well-maintained room.

- Great F&B at the lounge, and breakfast had many local dishes like Kiritanpo nabe and Inaniwa udon that are good enough.
- Encrypted Wi-Fi.

The bad:
- No dedicated parking. The hotel advises guests to use the public garage that's a block away from the hotel entrance (1-min walk across 1F of the Seibu department store if it is opened, 2-min uncovered walk otherwise).

The ugly:
- Nothing really. Absolutely enjoyed our stay.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Booked with points and then upgraded with a CSU. Amazing value. Will definitely return.
