Behind a paywall for me

Another problem for this refurbished A380 aircraft.
Dailymail AU Qantas passenger makes startling discovery outside her window: 'What is going on?'

An Aussie was horrified after claiming she watched a 'chunk' of a Qantas airplane wing break off while she was flying to Los Angeles.

Actor and World Poker Tour host Lynn Gilmartin had left Sydney and witnessed the terrifying incident unfold shortly before landing at LAX.

'What is going on at @qantas?? Our plane had a power issue,' she wrote on social media.' No TVs were working, no lights in most of the cabins, most seats wouldn't recline. I even heard some toilets were overflowing.' BUT THEN a chunk of the wing snapped off, dropping down on California somewhere.' Gilmartin was conflicted about posting the incident to her tens of thousands of social media followers because she is a loyal Qantas flyer. But her dissatisfaction with the airline took over and she wrote: 'It (Qantas) had the most immaculate reputation, so it's been so disappointing to watch the steep decline in customer service... and now safety?'

A Qantas spokesman said a wing slat was inspected shortly after the plane landed in Los Angeles. It was the slat on the wing which was seen, I wouldn't say it was a chunk,' he said. 'It's used when the aircraft take off or land. It was looked at by engineers when it came into LA and after a part comes in from Dubai it will be in operation again on Thursday. The A380 is very popular and it's a very busy time of year.'
