I have friends, a father and son, who have the same exact name. Each flies about 25k miles per year, but almost never together. Could they, in theory, use one FF number, and possibly end up as PLT instead of each being GLD? Their driver's licenses say the exact same name, and neither says Jr. or Sr. on it. An issue might arise on international flights if a passport number is in the records affiliated with a frequent flier number. If not, it'll still violate AA's rules.
