I would argue the stretch from Platinum to 1K is the only worthwhile stretch for status (with Silver to Gold well behind). I did a EOY RT EWR-ORD in 2016 in paid F (in the old international F product in the 763s pre-Polaris) that pushed me over the threshold. Been 1K ever since (for now).
