Data point which may just be good fortune, but I thought I’d put it here should it ever prove useful and provide hope sometimes a common sense approach is taken.
BA465 departure yesterday at 18:05 - the first BA flight since lunchtime, so no presumption of desks being open. We arrived at T4 just after 15:00 because I assumed the traffic would be terrible on Constitution Day and it turns out it actually meant there wasn’t any. Joined the Club/OW Priority queue with 3/4 people ahead of me, since nothing else to do. At 15:20 a couple of staff in Iberia uniforms turned up, asked everyone in our queue if we were Club/OW status, and promptly booted up the screens and started checking us in. Maybe they then moved onto the G4-9 queue straight after though I didn’t hang around to check.
Absolutely no idea if this was normal (it sounds not) or if they just took the initiative given queues had already formed, but it was most welcome; not just for the sake of our flight, but having experienced T4 at its worst for an Iberia domestic a few days prior.
