They calculate based on average weight though. I suppose weighing bags would make the calculation more accurate (or to be precise, it would make the maximum figure more accurate) but seems quite extreme, particularly since the average should capture pretty significant per-passenger variations.
In all events, enforcing this against PPS is just insane.

Exactly. No one's going to argue (at least not credibly) that UA is a 5 star airline but they have become very good at getting pax to destination with a minimum of hassles and the seat is not bad. SFO-SIN will be launch route for the new studio seat.
