If they try this again, then I really hope you follow through on your threat and contact SQ to inform them what you've done. A carry-on weight limit of 7kg is absolutely ludicrous, and they deserve to lose a lot of business if they enforce that rule.

BTW, regarding the other comments in this thread about Japanese airlines being even stricter: the Japanese airlines may be inflexible about many things, but in 30 years and 600,000 miles of flying on Japanese airlines, I have never once seen or experienced them weighing carry-ons. And I sincerely hope it stays that way!
