Shortly after this hotel opened I had a three night stay to test out this property - also to add a HH to my badge list and to take advantage of the HP/HH bonus points offer that was happening at the time.
All in all it was fine - just not what I was looking for in a hotel.
I had booked a King Studio which is one of the midrange room option. In line with policy no upgrade was offered despite (at a guess) occupancy being less than 25%. Unfortunately this room had a very unpleasant smell and a very small window. Being a sunny day I decided to switch to a balcony studio instead and paid the $13 difference in the room price. The hotel is on the bottom four floors of a residential building
The studio rooms have the full kitchen setup but no washer and dryer. The room was long and narrow and actually felt quite cramped. These are marketed as a long stay alternative for families but the king rooms at least would be very uncomfortable with more than 2 people.
The room had a very small table and a very small sofa. Maybe because it was new the sofa was extraordinarily uncomfortable and felt like sitting on a rock encased in concrete, hopefully it may soften up over time.
As a strong positive the bed was actually fantastic and extremely comfortable. Balcony was small but ok - it was covered in bird crap so not sure if cleaning the balcony is part of the house keeping routine yet.
The hotel only has 9 parks for guests on a first come first served basis - and they are small parks, my averaged sized sedan was too long for the park.
Limited continental breakfast is on offer but they do currently offer cooked items from a menu which is appreciated. The pancakes I ordered were actually not cooked and tasted like, well uncooked flour, so I skipped breakfast for the rest of my stay.
Even though it doesn't sound like it I thought the hotel was fine but really I have no need for a kitchen etc when staying in Melbourne and also prefer the CBD as a location. Given this hotel is often in the same price bracket (if not higher) as the Centric I'd always choose the Centric instead as they are very generous towards Globalists
Limited parking
Bathroom - shower pressure good but not great
Balcony
Small Table. Large TV (which didn't work)
The worst Hyatt sofa next to one of the best Hyatt beds
