And is the fee per $500 GC or per transaction?
Why would I follow up? It doesn't matter whether or not they take bank debits (they do, the person ahead of me used one), these don't work because of a block by whomever as opposed to a temporary glitch, so that ends the the matter for me. Maybe cards purchased online or from Staples or OD/OM work but that doesn't do me any good.
The cashier was talking about her personally handling such transactions, and was obviously familiar with them.
The fee is per card. I swiped six cards and in the first five cases the terminal showed a $498.05 charge plus a $1.95 debit card fee, and the sixth card showed the remaining balance plus a $1.95 debit fee. When all cards were entered and the cashier submitted the transaction, it failed.
