Cluck awaits!
So going back to discussion, I have flown 5 HA Mainland <-> HI segments this year. Four flights were very good, one was ok but lacking the usual HA touch (the crew didn't do anything wrong). I do not know why AS, on similar flight stages, can't regularly perform the same.
1) PDBs. No tantrums, no passive/aggressive, no "no time" while sitting for a half hour. Just nice PDB service.
2) Passing out the iPads for movies.
3) Proper first beverage and nut service, served timely.
4) Meal service didn't take forever and a day, nor rushed.
5) Frequent cabin pass-thrus with beverage refill options, including one passthru with snack mix and another with a cookie.
All of this and the crew still had plenty of galley chat time. Other than the stupid A330 F seats (really horrible - I'd not want one for a long haul int'l) and the lack of frequency of menu changes, I'm quite pleased that HA is doing most of the Bay Area <-> Hawaii flying. If / when mixed crews come to be, I hope that we don't end up with the aftermath that AS/VX provided.
And now, I can't wait to see what preparation of cluck will be available on the return flight.
