We took Eco Light options for holiday travel. Family of 5, 1 carry on each and 2 checked pieces are enough.
Flying out on LX to connect in FRA, then taking AC to cross over to Canada. Return is direct on LX.

on the LX site I read that SEN (*Gold) get 1 free checked bag on international routes.

Please note: no baggage is included in the Light fare.

For HON Circle Members, Senators and Star Alliance Gold customers on intercontinental flights, the first item of baggage on the Economy Light fare is complimentary and can only be declared at the check-in counter.
  • Outbound (LX to FRA, and AC to Canada):
    • 1st bag: free (SEN /Star Alliance Gold benefit).
    • 2nd bag: chargeable.
  • Return (LX direct from Canada):
    • 1st bag: free (SEN/ Star Alliance Gold benefit).
    • 2nd bag: chargeable.
At the same time, the SEN hotline oddly commented "it's to the discretion of the airport staff"...(?) ..
But assuming above is correct, then best approach is to buy 1 baggage allowance online and try my luck at the airport? Or perhaps in fact just go without pre paying..
