Nobody is walking to OAK, or even taking the bus. It's car or BART, with no stops nearby. You don't even want to get gas nearby. Which I suppose would affect people who rent cars.
I flew the LAX to OAK route 2-3 times a month for 12 years. During that time, Southwest had a lot of flights between LAX and OAK, so that the occasional cancelled or delayed flight wouldn’t be a problem. After the pandemic, the routes were really reduced and It was much harder to meet my schedule requirements with a reduced flight schedule. Yet, Oakland invested a lot of money in modernizing the food and beverage concessions in both terminals. Seems like a waste now with fewer passengers. As for crime around the airport, almost 20 months ago, my car was broken into while getting gas along Hegenburger one night. I stopped getting gas at the airport after that when returning the car rental. My contract ended in July, so my WN flights have gone down a lot, but it sure was convenient traveling there from LAX from 2012-2020.
