Failure to carry over paid lounge membership after credit card cancellation

Back in November 2018 I got the Presidential Plus Business Credit Card, which includes a lounge membership. At the time, I had a regular paid membership good through March 2019, and I strongly feel like I was annoyed that they would not pro-rate the remaining membership as a refund. But it's been 7 years...

But prior to cancelling my card last week, my lounge membership expiration was always in March, and would re-up one year when I paid my card annual fee in November/December.

I just cancelled the Pres Plus card with plans to get the United Club card instead. But, arriving at the lounge today, they say my membership is expired. Talking to the United Club agent over the phone (lounge dragon called the office and passed the phone to me) they say I would have been given a refund 7 yeas ago, but their records only go back 6 years.

I'm assuming this is an IT issue, but does anyone have any similar experiences / recall if you were getting a pro-rated paid membership refund back in 2018?

I very strongly feel that I've been carrying the remaining months of my paid membership since 2018 (as evidenced by the consistent Arch expiration) and United has just disappeared them.
