The A343 are exactly the same fuselage and wing as the A330-300. The A343 came first (in the mid 1990s) and the A333 only became viable when the next generation engines came along in the late 1990s. Lufthansa operates a fleet of 14 A343 while it awaits the arrival on B789 and seems to keep the 20+ year old aircraft running. That may be all fine and dandy for LH, but probably not really good for a startup like Global.
I dont know the specfics of the LH fleet but they are most likely long since paid off, so they dont have the additional leasing concerns on top of maintance and fuel. Leasing a single A343, along with a stored A388, its a intersting mix for sure.
