Just stayed over thanksgiving and in general I quite like the hotel. It has a beautiful ground/beach and great staff. As a GOH staying on award was upgraded to ocean /resort view room on the 9th floor. The room is pretty good for size, decor nothing fancy/luxury and fits the regency brand right to its name. Two complains about the room is that 1. the bed/sofa is facing away from the ocean. (This should be specific to just some rooms, as I believe there are another sets would face right at the ocean by looking at the floor maps), and 2 the music from the bar could last till midnight and you still hear them on 9th floor. (Using earplugs solves it for me)
Breakfast is great and the spread is pretty good. The sushi restaurant that is taking over the lounge space is still in the making, and that also affects the spa treatment room so they are moved to 2nd floor guest rooms and the spa facility is closed. Beach is great and no problem reserving palapas/ beach chairs in the morning. It has a great vibe and I see many families with children there and make the space very lively and happy. Hyatt’s location is unbeatable with many dining options walkable around the hotel so you will not be limited to hotel restaurants or have to drive. And one of the highlight of the trip is snorkeling in Tres Trapi in the morning, and spotted several sea turtles! Snorkel around them and wait for them to swim up to breathe and you will get really close to them!
