Really? Such a shame!

We stayed here for a good week or so last month. No, it doesn't feel quite so plush as, say, the Sheraton at Sydney but you shouldn't even be in Samoa if that's all you expect. As time goes by, they'll hopefully touch up a few things here and there but a shame that Marriott is dumping them. The plunge pool by the spa hasn't yet been renovated but give them time, I'm sure. Rough weather in recent years and Covid too haven't helped them in the slightest. But really, my only regret is that they didn't have kayaks for guest use yet - although that is something they are working on, as they're currently organising this with some local third parties. An excellent opportunity!

All rooms face the ocean, overlooking the lawn. I think the ground floor disabled access room is due for something of an update, but they have been updating other rooms. We also stayed in the upstairs room 622, or something to that effect, which although the furthest walk from anywhere was actually lovely because it overlooks the plush gardens like an Eden all of its own. Of course, don't leave leftovers around or the bugs will enjoy your generosity, but that's to be said about anywhere tropical.

Frankly, this place is a lovely, enjoyable resort on a massive rather secluded property only minutes from the airport. FAR superior to Aggie's in Apia because of its location, lush green gardens and beautiful coastline around Mulifanua with views out across to Savai'i and other islands. Even when the resort is fully booked you can still find some quiet places to hang out - and we actually preferred the vibe here compared to resorts on the main island of Fiji. Although if night life is your thing then go visit the bars during a rugby match and you'll also have lots of fun!

The staff go out of their way to make your stay welcome. My wife had an injury, and they were very accommodating to support us. Delightful Samoan hospitality. Couldn't have asked for better in that regard. They're also quick on the emails which always helps!

Breakfast enjoyable with a plethora of options, including an omelette station. Nachos are great, as was the steak, pasta and wine. If you're keen for a long walk, you could also go check out the local markets at Mulifanua for local freshly cooked snacks. Traditional Pacifika food (no, not DMC nor Mr. Chicken - I said traditional) is always a treat.

My tip: hire a car across the road at the top of the hill or from near the airport. It takes up to an hour to get to and from Apia and the freedom on wheels just makes your life that bit easier. It also means that you can go check out other places around the island. We only stayed on Upolo, but next time would be keen to visit Savai'i.

If anyone has questions, just ask away or DM me. I feel like we've been all over Upolo in the week after the Sheraton. We also stayed at Aga Reef Resort, which is worthy of its own thread. My, what a beautiful place!
