Yes. The in-flight menu usually has 3 choices, and the pre-order selection is much larger.

Basically, if you don’t want to risk not liking any of the in-flight menu choices, then you can pre-order. And if there is an item reported on the in-flight menu but you don’t want to miss due menu rotation, then pre-order it. I did that latter with red curry lamb chops.
