You earn 1 status point for every $3 in credit card spend this year with the old AS card (now branded Ascend) and the old HA card, capped at 30k. The newer Summit Visa earns 1 status point per $2 in spend with no cap. The cap goes away for everyone next year.

I suspect the “purchase bonus” is extra redeemable points making a purchase in a category that earns more than 1X. AS/BofA break those out on the activities screen and the credit card statement.
