Excuse my ignorance, but I have been pursuing lifetime status with another airline and have not recently flown with Alaska. But.... still use my Atmos credit card.

I have noticed on my husband's account shows monthly credits for "status points". In addition, there are several points credited as a "purchase bonus". I know that Alaska frequently has a special that if you use the card for whatever in the next so many months that purchase bonus points will be allocated. But they usually require a signup for that, which we have not done.

Can someone explain: what are we getting status points every single month ? We currently do not have airline status.
Why do the credit card points in our mileage account not align with the purchases listed on our monthly statements.
