The equivalent of the AF strategy is certainly not to limit F awards to bronze and above, it would be to limit it to gold and above, disallow awards for members of partner programmes starting with AA, and take ot out of the dynamic pricing (which is also an FB feature) to limit it to the highest band only and for one passenger only. Incidentally, it would also involve making the F product vastly better than it currently is.

in many ways, the AF restriction on F awards is precisely a way to ensure FB remains a frequent flyer programme and does not become a frequent buyer programme a la aa and protect the value of their top flying proposition making it inaccessible on awards to those earning status through us type
flying-optional programmes and Amex mr accruers.

im not disagreeing that the AF model is one ba could consider, but let’s be accurate about what it actually entails because it is a lot more radical than suggested above and pursues an almost opposite purpose to AA.
