Heck on an IHG Destined rate which states breakfast for 2 at Regent Taipei my brother had breakfast with me every day and he wasn't staying there. But that was out of character for me and more due to the whole rules and regulations vibe at that place. I asked the front desk several times if that was OK (outside guest being my +1) and they said yes. Would not have pushed for it either.
A bit off topic, but Regent Taipei allows additional breakfast for Ambassadors (at least during Covid when Ambassadors were recognized at Regents) in addition to what the room rate includes. The front desk always reminded me about the extra breakfast and told me to invite friends over to have it.
