I’m not too worried about where the miles will be credited, and also regarding lounge access I’m sure AC/UA lounges allow *G access so no concerns about that either.
So coming back to the backup plan in case AC won’t just waive the bag fee, I guess I will ask them to change the FF number, and then optionally ask to change it back to UA at EWR, or maybe at check-in for the return trip. Right ?
I am going to be in the same predicament next year when am still UA Gold but also AC 25K for 2026, and since I will likely fly way more AC than UA next year, I am curious as to what the best strategy is (though will only try to accrue on one programme i.e. AC):
- for AC flights, use 25K and credit to AC then show UA Premier Gold at lounges
- for other *A flights, use UA Premier Gold at check-in and lounges then get a gate agent to change the FFP to AC?
