I think, like myself, many have been looking elsewhere but while still having BA status benefits have been continuing to fly BA while perhaps crediting elsewhere or in my case drawing down my previously vast Avios stockpile. Assuming I drop to silver next April then any competitor with a generous invitation will be well received.
Agree with that but what metrics would BA be using to determine whether someone has "jumped ship"?

I would say I have "jumped ship" in the sense that out of 68 or so sectors I have flown since the BAC, only two have been on BA, but I am still Gold until end March and I imagine I'll still be Silver from April (unless I've missed the memo about removal of soft landings). And even if I continue to plummet through the status levels in subsequent years, with bucketloads of Avios, I'll be trying very hard to stay in the BAC so as to be able to make use of those Avios, if for no other reason. I wonder what parameters BA have to look at behaviours and patterns, and what conclusions they would draw from the data. Putting aside my own personal grievances (all nicely articulated across many of the preceding posts from the ever articulate FT community) I am genuinely intrigued by all of this.

What is BA's measure of success/failure? What is the data telling BA?

Anecdotally not much has changed in terms of lounge occupation and loads, so is it all much of a muchness? I presume not, otherwise why bother implementing such a change in the first place (at not insignificant cost).
