Also worth pointing out that every single element of this was botched by BA, starting with the announcement in the holidays without obvious preparation and with comms teams on holiday. The idea this was to enable bonus payout was suggested and is very plausible. So you start out feeling like someone is pulling a fast one. You have trips already booked towards partial status retention and you're now high and dry. The totals looked ludicrous so people zoned out immediately. The credit card earning was late to be announced and didn't meet expectations (though it was very predictible in shape).

It's not just about McKinsey. It's about IAG/BA internal politics, it's about unrealistic assumptions, and it's about basic communications with customers. Having twigged what the alignment of TP years meant I was expecting an announcement about tier based status to happen before April 2024, for a change to start in April 2025, because that would have avoided people booking partial retention and would allow progressive reveals of partners, tweaks to the system, a bit of consultation. As it was the comms were brutal with very little time to course adjust and gave the impression customers were being fired for not spending enough.
