It might be true for some airline status, but BA Gold is very beneficial for those who fly business at least from T5. You can't get access to the first wing at LHR at any price when flying BA short haul. So those who are gold or above get benefits that a business class ticket doesn't bring.
Even for longhaul there's an increasing number of routes without F so if you want the first wing you're going to need status.
Is it that huge though and enough to drive significant spend? If you were on Virgin, you'd get the Upper Class Wing anyway. Galleries F is not notably superior to Galleries Club except from being a little quieter and having free-pour champagne so I just can't get 'very beneficial' out of that benefits uplift. I really don't feel the jump in benefits at Gold if you regularly fly Club World is significant enough to really drive spend, especially to the type of person who is now getting it, who is likely to be less engaged by the whole thing than anyone here.
