Sure, if customers weren't so price sensitive. But the reality is that there is a market for this. Look at the success of the Basic Y fares in the US, for example.

There's no denying there is a market for these fares. After all in Europe as well LCCs already prove it. I know this is beating the dead horse, but then why make the LCC in your group more attractive by giving XP rather than your mainline brands? It dilutes the image of those carriers, and a lot of why people choose to fly legacy carriers has to do with the brand image too. I understand that most travelers will open a price comparison site and just pick the lowest fare, and yes, such fares can entrap them. But those people aren't the ones chasing status anyway, and so if you handed out XP, even if a paltry 2XP to make it the same as Transavia, at least you are consistent in treating these basic fares the same across the market.
