Just because something is the norm, or the standard, or seems to work in the US - which is a very very different market - does not mean it would work in Europe - even if of course the average passenger would of course like a "bigger" seat.
We're getting OT by now but Eurowings has recently introduced their "Premium BIZ Seat", which is exactly the type of seat you'd find in US domestic First Class. It's only available on flights to DWC for now and available at an extra cost, but it certainly shows that there is interest in experimenting with this
