Yes. Years ago we did LAX-JFK-AUH(overnight)-MLE and then plane and speed boat to the Park Hyatt Maldives. When we landed at AUH EY did not have my wife's bag as AA did not put it on the flight at LAX, but did have my bag and my scuba gear. They gave her 300AED to shop for some clothes and 3 days later her bag showed up at our villa after EY put flew it to MLE and put it on a sea plane. She was NOT happy in the moment but, we look back on it and laugh although she still blames me for not tipping the check-in agent at LAX.
