This is one of the strangest complaints I've ever seen on Flyertalk. (I already know that Gary Leff needs to resort these days to click-bait in order to drive page views)

If you don't trust the buffet breakfast at a hotel, you shouldn't be trusting the kitchen either. Management prioritising health and safety is more relevant than the breakfast style.

If you simply prefer a-la-carte breakfasts, I'm sure there are no shortage of hotel brands and external restaurants that will cater to your desires. It certainly makes sense to me that IHG is managing the brand standards for Holiday Inn, especially now that BF is included for Diamonds.
