Even more confusingly, other airlines (including Emirates and Lufthansa) were shown with identical fares (I really wanted to report them to the competition authorities for obvious price-fixing!) AND also offering XP earning...

(Yes, specifically "XP earning". Which heavily implies that, within the "universe" of this stupid survey, you could book flights on those competitors instead of the AF/KL option and still qualify for status in Flying Blue. If they intended that you would earn an equivalent amount of Tier Points/Miles in the corresponding FFP of the corresponding airline, this was not at all clearly indicated; the reference to the Flying Blue-specific XPs certainly seems to indicate otherwise)

It was a thoroughly ill-designed survey
