EE - we seem to have missed each other by a few days!

I stayed here for a short night last week for the Brand Explorer badge pickup and have the following thoughts:
  • I was upgraded from a base King Bed as booked to a King Bed Deluxe, so it seems there's some/inconsistent Globalist upgrading despite the fact that the brand is technically upgrade-exempt as per the T&Cs.
  • The team members I dealt with at the reception were both friendly and welcoming, and covered the basics in an efficient and warm fashion.
  • I thought the public areas were quite nice - colorful, fitted out to decent quality and clearly had some thought put into them. Compared to a similar Moxy [as it so happens, there's one across the road], this is a more appealing and composed design concept.
  • My room was on the second floor and overlooked an internal courtyard/other building towards the back, but this wasn't an issue as it added to the room being quiet and I wasn't planning on spending much time in the room.
  • I had a few extra square meters to move around in the room, but you can see the ibis bones of it; this remains a small room, and I really wish that there was some more clever use of space to make the room more usable. For example, a foldable chair and desk/bigger desk than the current one would have been far more useful than the little ledge currently in place, and as stated above, there's nowhere to sit other than the bed.
  • The room quality is decent, and it's a comfortable place to sleep and chill in.
  • The shower quality was good, toiletries were decent, but as EE mentioned, no lotion - which strikes me as a bit cheap.
  • I didn't have time for breakfast with my early departure, but the team member setting the space up in the morning let me in anyway to make myself some coffee before heading to Ostbahnhof for the train to BER. From what I gleaned, the breakfast setup looked solid.
All in all, I actually liked this hotel - even with room to improve [buying some stools/little chairs shouldn't be too hard to do to fix the room setup]. I just wonder, however, what Hyatt's strategy with this brand is; it has the cool, urban, micro-hotel vibe and youthful product that Moxy is pitching, but with no global rollout, just one hotel outside Germany and what I can only imagine is a higher set of buildout costs and no brand awareness beyond Germany, I just don't see it going anywhere, which is a real shame. They should be snagging up ibis Styles properties all over Europe and flipping them to this brand to build it out, but no. Alas...
